How to build and measure an effective growth test
Growth, Product Management Mar 28, 2019
When you’re running a growth team or working as a growth marketer, you’ll likely be getting growth test ideas from across your company, from customers, and you’ll also likely be thinking up new ideas day in and day out. One thing I’ve caught myself and others doing is jumping right into running growth tests without actually having a well enough thought out hypothesis that includes how you’ll measure the impact of your test against a control. (If you’re unsure how to build a control, here’s a quick post about how to do so).
Growth test example template
Hypothesis
By doing/not doing _______ we believe that _______ will be impacted by _______.
Control
The control is what we are measuring against. It’s sometimes referred to as a baseline.
Test
Enter the details of the test here.
Measurement
How will we measure the results of the test? I usually put this into table format in google sheets (or excel).
X | Y | Z | ABC | |

Variant 2 |
Results
